Abstract Submissions
SNL 2021 will be held virtually, in an online format. ALL accepted abstracts for SNL 2021 will be delivered as slide presentations, either a traditional 15-minute slide talk or a slide slam. Slide Slams will feature thematically-organised programs of 5-minute mini-talks, followed by a live discussion/Q&A including all presenters. These dynamic sessions will replace poster sessions and have been designed to increase visibility and ensure a more interactive discussion space for all of our SNL presenters.
During submission please indicate whether you prefer to be considered for a 15-minute traditional slide presentation or a shorter 5-minute slide slam. Both slide and slide slam presentations will be pre-recorded for playback to attendees, with a live component of each session allowing for conversation and feedback between presenters and audience members.
You must be an SNL member to submit an abstract.
Abstracts are limited to 500 words (not including the title, authors, and affiliations). The submission system does not allow figures in abstracts. Multiple submissions per first author are allowed. The abstract submission form allows you to specify whether you would prefer a slide or slide slam presentation.
The standard elements of an abstract are Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion or Summary. It is not required that the sections be explicitly labeled as such. It is, however, important that each abstract contains sufficiently detailed descriptions of the methods and the results*.
*Due to continued research interruptions caused by COVID-19, we will continue the sandbox series, an optional designation for slide slam abstracts, which will allow presenters to solicit input regarding in-progress and/or planned work. We welcome submissions of both full/completed studies, as well as projects in earlier stages. These slide slams will describe the motivation and design of the study, present pilot data, and discuss how potential outcomes would be interpreted. Abstracts should highlight the preliminary nature of the findings.
Please complete your submission carefully. All abstracts must be in final form. Authors may edit abstracts online until the submission deadline. After the submission deadline, no typos or other errors may be corrected.
